The project at 165 Capitol Avenue, overseen by SMI, is pivotal due to its aim to preserve a historic eight-story, 300,000-square-foot building with exquisite architectural details like marble columns and brass elements. The presence of asbestos adds complexity, requiring SMI to employ meticulous asbestos abatement and selective demolition processes, all while adhering to strict safety regulations to protect workers and future occupants. Specialized plywood coverings are used to safeguard the building’s irreplaceable features during the renovation. SMI's sector-by-sector approach, combined with precise planning and diligent time and cost management, highlights their expertise and reliability in handling such intricate projects.
960 Mass Ave
The project at 960 Mass Ave, managed by SMI in collaboration with Boston Medical Center, introduced significant enhancements to the existing office building. The first floor was completely revamped to create a new café, offering a beautiful and functional space for both office workers and passersby. Additionally, the third-floor roof was transformed into an outdoor deck with seating areas, a green space, and a living farm featuring various fruits and vegetables. SMI also integrated solar power solutions, including solar pergolas and rooftop solar coverage, showcasing their methodical approach, precise planning, and commitment to sustainability and exceptional results.
